Northern California · Anniversary commissions

The years together.
Made into art.

Some anniversaries deserve a place in the home. A marriage portrait celebrates the years you have lived together through a new portrait, created for the wall you see every day. It can be the wedding portrait you always wanted, or a different expression of who you have become.

Northern California: $580 portrait study fee + $1,000 minimum artwork credit. The study fee is separate. Artwork begins at $1,290; local study + Mini Classic artwork totals $1,870 before applicable taxes or additional charges. Ask about payment options.

An invitation to create together

A meaningful gift, with room for both of you.

You may give the invitation to create the portrait together, then choose the setting and wardrobe as a couple. If you want finished artwork by your anniversary, tell us that separately from the date you plan to present the gift. We confirm what is feasible before you reserve.

You can wear your own gown, obtain one, request session-gown sourcing by arrangement, or choose other formal attire. Fit, availability, and any sourcing cost are confirmed before you reserve.

Your place in the picture

Begin with the room. Then choose the landscape.

A wide coastal composition can bring a sense of space to a living room; a more vertical architectural portrait can give an entryway its focus. Northern California is the home region for The Marriage Portrait. We narrow the many possibilities to a single setting that supports your wall, clothing, comfort, and story.

Where you live and where we photograph you can be different. Tell us both, along with any access needs or meaningful location. Coast, valley, and mountain concepts each require their own weather and access planning. Specific venues, permissions, travel arrangements, and any enhancements are agreed in the written proposal before a deposit.

Make room for the making

Your anniversary has a date.
Your artwork needs a plan.

The portrait session is only the beginning. Digital painting, hand embellishment, approval, and framing all follow. Start with your occasion now so we can review what is possible for your date.

If the celebration comes first, you can give the invitation to create the portrait together, with the finished artwork arriving later on an agreed timeline.

An optional addition to your commission

A personal gift,
just for them.

A private boudoir session offers another way to create a gift for your spouse. Available exclusively alongside a Marriage Portrait commission, with a private setting arranged in Northern California or your visiting city.

The session, presentation, and additional investment are discussed privately. If you are considering this for your wife, begin with an invitation she can choose to accept.

The Masterpiece option

Your marriage, finished in brushwork.

Choose the Masterpiece finish to make your gift a hand-embellished canvas. Digital painting, acrylic texture, and hand-applied color bring qualifying artwork sizes into their finished form. Classic photographic artwork is also available.

For couples who call this area home

Planning your commission.

Sacramento and Roseville, the San Francisco Bay Area, Napa and Sonoma, Lake Tahoe, Monterey and Carmel, Yosemite and the Sierra foothills

Your current home and the portrait setting are considered separately. One selected location is confirmed after access, production, wardrobe, and timing have been reviewed.

Tell us when you want to present the gift and, separately, whether you need the completed artwork by a particular date. No deadline is promised before review.

Do we have to live near the portrait location?

No. We ask for your current city and your preferred session area separately so the proposal reflects the real journey and production plan.

Can we choose several Northern California locations?

The commission is developed around one main concept and one agreed location. We can explore several ideas during consultation, then select the one that best serves your artwork.

Does an anniversary commission cover a celebration or party?

This is a planned portrait commission for married couples, culminating in one finished artwork. Event coverage is outside this offer.
